McBee, William Pinckney "Pink"

William Pinckney McBee (1820-1860) of Greenville, SC, was the son of Vardry (1775-1864) and Jane Alexander (1783-1864) McBee. A member of the Dialectic Society, McBee graduated in 1842, returned to Greenville, SC, and in 1846 married Harriet Ford Butler (1823-1901); they were the parents of two sons and two daughters. McBee became a civil engineer with the South Carolina Railway Company. He also served in the SC General Assembly from about 1852 to 1856. His papers are housed in the Manuscripts Division, South Caroliniana Library, University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC. Dusenbery refers to him as "Pink."
